It can be argued that there are many people that are not interested to serve in the Armed Forces and other jobs that are under the authority of the Federal government. Imagine the kind of trouble the government would have to contend with if they are authorized to compel its citizens to serve for at least a year. It would be costly in terms of manpower and litig ation purposes. It is a terrible idea to suggest compulsive service. However, those who decide to become a public servant must be held in high esteem. The spirit of volunteerism must be stirred up and not the spirit of coercion. The government and its citizens must laud anyone who enters public service. It must be viewed as an honorable thing to do, lifting the spirits of the family members of those who chose to serve in spite of its many challenges. The government must therefore encourage people to serve. It is the job of the government to persuade people to serve in a short term or long term basis. One way to do this is to communicate clearly the positive impact to the community and the nation if one person decides to spend a few years of his or her life to serve others. A persuasive message can also be achieved by developing creative ways to reward those who are in public service. Death Penalty Thirty eight states in the United States enforce the death penalty. Some people are in favor of the death penalty, but that may be because they have not been directly involved with it. Sometimes people can change their views about an issue when that issue all of a sudden becomes a part of their lives. Death is not something to be played with. Someone's life should not be put in the hands of another person or the government. These are the five ways people are murdered by the government: Lethal injection is the most common form of execution. This is when a prisoner is strapped to a gurney, while two needles are placed in each arm. Two different types of chemicals are released putting the inmate to sleep. A third chemical, a muscle relaxer, is released causing the prisoner to stop breathing within minutes. Approximately five states use the gas chamber as a method of execution. A prisoner is strapped down in a chamber where acid is released into a pan. Tablets are then dropped in the pan causing a chemical reaction that causes a deadly poisonous gas to knock the prisoner unconscious. Death occurs within minutes. Gas masked men decontaminate the body with bleach so as not to harm themselves while removing the body. Only a few states still use two of the oldest forms of execution today. Firing squads and hanging are still methods of executing criminals in the United States. Five or more men shoot a prisoner, sometimes killing him/her right away, when states kill by firing squads. When states use the hanging method, they try to set the noose just right so as not to allow suffocation, and to snap the neck and kill the inmate instantly. However, if done incorrectly, suffocation and suffering sometimes occur. Probably the most cruel and unusual method of execution is death by the electric chair. When a prisoner is strapped into this chair, his/her organs are burned. The inmate's flesh may catch on fire, and he/she may vomit blood. He/she may also violently twitch or leap forward as his/her insides are being electrocuted. One may be able to handle the fact that a criminal is being put to death. They might think that a criminal has done wrong, so they deserve to die. What they might not be thinking about is that criminal may be someone's son or daughter, mom or dad, niece or nephew, brother or sister, husband or wife.

A comparison between to Modern poems Essay

The two poems that will be compared both concern the topic of old age, but each has it’s own interpretation on the subject. The first, â€Å"Warning† by Jenny Joseph, is about a woman who wishes to live her life recklessly, instead of aging stereotypically. The second poem, â€Å"Old Man, Old Man† by U.A. Fanthorpe, expresses the effects of how old age can dramatically change a person’s perspective of their own life. Both poems concern the topic of old age, but after just a single reading of each it is clear that the tone differs tremendously. This is possibly where the most obvious observation can be made when considering the poems. â€Å"Warning† has a distinctive spirited feeling about it, where as â€Å"Old Man, Old Man† is able to convey the feelings of sorrow and remorse felt by the person concerned, with ease. This is an important aspect of any poem, and is a useful tool to assist a poem in its direction. Another important aspect of each of these poems is the actual topic of old age, and how it is perceived by the person in question. During â€Å"Warning†, old age is thought of as a rather mundane event for a person that signals the end of a life, and allows the person to fade away. This is also very much the case in â€Å"Old Man, Old Man† because of its tone, which is more sorrowful than in â€Å"Warning†, which portrays that the sarcastic stereotypical attitude shown in the third stanza of â€Å"warning† is actually a reality for some people. This is where the subject of each of the poems can be clearly seen. â€Å"Old Man, Old Man† is about a man that old age has crept upon, and has produced an unrecognisable person who is quite different from his original character. Past â€Å"Lord once of shed, garage and garden† Present â€Å"I’ve lost my hammer.† The above quotes provide reasonable evidence supporting this idea, as they represent how the man in the poem went from king of his domain- to something quite unrecognisable. However, the woman concerned in the poem â€Å"Warning†, shows a great will to change from her present character into what can only be described as a second childhood. It tells us that she is not only willing to become a different person, but that she is willing to attempt to stray away from the stereotypical view of old age. â€Å"And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves, And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.† It’s not just the tone that adds effect to the poems, but the titles also give us further insight into the poems they belong to. In the title Old Man, Old Man, the repetition of old man emphasises the man’s age, and the title’s repetition within the poem allows us to see that this aspect is quite important. Repetition is used throughout the poem, trying to show us that things such as his missing hammer and that he is unable to find his way to Drury Lane are important to the man in question. They also tell us that he is no longer as independent as he used to be. â€Å"I can see you, you said to me, but only as a cloud.† This comment within the poem explains to the narrator (who is possibly one of the man’s children) that the old man acknowledges that they are there, but becomes unaware of them. If we carry on through the final stanzas, we can see that the narrator wishes to assist the old man, but only as a cloud. This means that the old man can receive aid without losing his independence. The previous idea placed before the last quote can be supported as can this idea of having lost independence, without adding ridicule: â€Å"Let me find your hammer, let me walk with you to Drury lane. I am only a cloud.† â€Å"Warning’s† title, however, is slightly less obvious, but if it is analysed it can clearly be seen that the poem is not a warning for old age, but of being stereotypical, as this is exactly what the women doesn’t want to be. Repetition is also used within â€Å"Warning†, but not to the extent that it was used by â€Å"Old Man, Old Man†. It is used here not only for effect, but to emphasise things that the writer perhaps feels is important and should be taken into consideration. A good example of this during â€Å"Warning† can be found on the first and last lines, First line: â€Å"When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple.† Last line: â€Å"When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.† In this context, it shows us that old age will only be realized when she starts doing the things she planned upon doing as an elderly person. This is similar to â€Å"Old Man, Old Man† because within the poem, is a similar realization of old age. The poems mixture of tenses allows us to see this analysis of the aging process; this mainly refers to â€Å"Old Man, Old Man† but does occur during â€Å"Warning†. From reading the two poems, I have realised that old age makes a great impact on a person’s life, and it is up to them as to how they spend that time. Both â€Å"Old Man, Old Man† by U.A. Fanthorpe and â€Å"Warning† by Jenny Joseph contain different interpretations of old age from different perspectives. â€Å"Old Man, Old Man† could be seen as the stereotypical form of old age mentioned in â€Å"Warning†, and shows us that the woman doesn’t wish to be anything like the man, even though she probably knows that’s what she will be. This realization of old age is one thing that each of the poems has in common, although it is an experience in one, and an anticipation in another. Perhaps the poems are related to their writers, and consist of memories or feelings that they’ve had towards a relation (in the case of â€Å"Old Man, Old Man†) or even themselves (â€Å"Warning†). Each of the poems express similar use of different tenses, as do they use repetition to effect key sections, which adds depth. The titles of each of the poems also accomplish this, and are important because they set the tone for the poems. Although the content and tone of each of the poems is drastically different, it can be seen that they are really quite similar in the way they explain their opinions and views of old age, and their concerns when considering the topic. Each leads to a convincing perception of old age and a valid interpretation of their lives from that point onwards.

Nevertheless, the business with annual turnover below RM500, 000 may apply for the GST voluntary registration that is because registration GST is voluntary. (HengAnn, 2014) There are no any extra fees charged for GST registration processing. Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Value-Added Tax (VAT) are a type of consumption tax had been invented in 1950’s. Both of GST and VAT are based on value added concept and it is a multi-stage tax, so GST or VAT will charge at each stage of supplies chain. Currently, there are 160 countries had implemented GST or VAT and from this statistic has shown that GST and VAT are an effective and fair tax system. According to the data shows based on the region, 160 countries had implemented GST or VAT are as the following countries: 7 countries in ASEAN, 19 countries in Asia, 53 countries in Europe, 7 countries in Oceania, 44 countries in Africa, 11 countries in South America and 19 countries in Caribbean, Central and North America. On 7th April 2014, the Goods and Services Tax was passed in Dewan Rakyat Malaysia with 119 votes for and 81 votes against. Start from 1st April 2015, GST will effective at a standard tax rate of 6%. What Javascript Cannot Do While there are a great many things that JavaScript can be used to enhance your web pages and improve your visitors experience with your site, there are also a few things that JavaScript cant do. Some of these limitations are due to the fact that the script is running in the browser window and therefore cannot access the server while others are as a result of security that is in place to stop web pages from being able to tamper with your computer. There is no way to work around these limitations and anyone who claims to be able to perform any of the following tasks using JavaScript has not considered all of the aspects of whatever it is that they are trying to do. It Cannot Write to Files on the Server Without the Help of a Server-Side Script Using Ajax, JavaScript can send a request to the server. This request can read a file in XML or plain text format but it cannot write to a file unless the file called on the server actually runs as a script to do the file write for you. JavaScript cannot access databases unless you use Ajax and have a server-side script to perform the database accesses for you. It Cannot Read From or Write to Files in the Client Even though JavaScript is running on the client computer (the one where the web page is being viewed) it is not allowed to access anything outside of the web page itself. This is done for reasons of security since otherwise a web page would be able to update your computer to install who knows what. The only exception to this are files called cookies which are small text files that JavaScript can write to and read from. The browser restricts access to cookies so that a given web page can only access cookies created by the same site. JavaScript cannot close a window if it didnt open it. Again this is for security reasons. It Cannot Access Web Pages Hosted on Another Domain Even though web pages from different domains can be displayed at the same time, either in separate browser windows or in separate frames within the same browser window, the JavaScript running on a web page belonging to one domain cannot access any information about a web page from a different domain. This helps to ensure that private information about you that may be known to the owners of one domain is not shared with other domains whose web pages you may have open concurrently. The only way to access files from another domain is to do an Ajax call to your server and have a server side script access the other domain. It Cannot Protect Your Page Source or Images Any images on your web page are downloaded separately to the computer displaying the web page so the person viewing the page already has a copy of all of the images by the time they view the page. The same is true of the actual HTML source of the web page. The web page needs to be able to decrypt any web page that is encrypted in order to be able to display it. While an encrypted web page may require JavaScript to be enabled in order for the page to be able to be decrypted in order for it to be able to be displayed by the web browser, once the page has been decrypted anyone who knows how can easily save the decrypted copy of the page source.

Leaving Out That Leaving Out â€Å"That† Leaving Out â€Å"That† By Maeve Maddox Some members of my critique group often return my submissions having circled every that I’ve used to introduce a noun clause. NOTE: A noun clause is a subordinate clause that answers â€Å"what?† after a verb in another clause: â€Å"I feel that you are mistaken.† Main clause: â€Å"I feel.† Noun clause: â€Å"that you are mistaken.† Most of the time, I agree with their judgment and remove the offending that. Sometimes, however, I choose to leave it in, even if it’s not strictly necessary. The modern mantra of â€Å"leave out needless words† is one to observe in a general way, but it shouldn’t lead a writer to slash mindlessly at every word that can be left out just because it can be. Plenty of guidelines are given for the inclusion or omission of that when introducing a noun clause. The recommendations of the AP Style Guide are often quoted: Omit that after the verb to say–â€Å"usually.† Do not omit that when a time element intervenes between the the verb and the dependent clause. Include that after the verbs advocate, assert, contend, declare, estimate, make clear, point out, propose, and state–â€Å"usually.† Include that before clauses beginning with conjunctions such as after, although, etc. Recognizing the impossibility of laying down hard and fast rules for the use of that as a conjunction, the AP entry concludes with this sensible remark: When in doubt, include that. Omission can hurt. Inclusion never does. Fowler mentions some additional verbs that usually require a that: agree, assume, calculate, conceive, hold, learn, maintain, and suggest. Even if a verb appears on some guide’s â€Å"OK to omit† list, writers need to be alert to the possibility that omitting a that could force a reader to stumble, as in these examples: â€Å"The accountant has learned fractions must not appear in the totals.† â€Å"Do you know Mary Smith has left the firm?† â€Å"The doctor feels your leg will soon be better.† Here are some that and non-that examples from two popular and respected modern writers. Personal Mission & Professional Goal Statements for Educational Leadership Class - Essay Example I was given the passion to learn new things in each and every day of my life. I chose to deal out what I have learned to everyone. I was given the freedom to influence other people. I opted to influence others with the knowledge that God gave me. I was called to teach. I agreed to be His disciple, His follower. I was given the voice to speak out His glory. I conceded to be His voice here on earth. This is my calling, my vocation. This is the path that I chose. I would regularly ask them for their opinions regarding the way I teach and reach them. I will make them feel that every word they say about me and about certain things are appreciated and highly regarded. I would establish a good, healthy relationship with my students. I will try to gather their thoughts and perspectives about education. I would listen to their voices for I know that being an educator is a two-way process, they learn from me and at the same time, I will be able to pick up relevant points from them, views that I could use in my own personal living. I will attend to every meeting especially if the meeting would be comprised of the people I usually encounter.
